The Knights of Columbus can work wonders in the local community.  In fact, with the many programs Knights are involved in, the Knights of Columbus can truly transform families, the community, and our Church in many positive ways.  But a successful Council is more than rhetoric, more than a suggestion at a meeting.  A program needs people taking an initial idea, modifying it to suit the specific need here in the Belleville area, and implementing the program in a way that works.

The purpose of this page is to outline how the programs of Council 1028 are organized.  By organizing our Council efforts, two goals can be accomplished.  First, the program can be easily visualized to enable the largest number of members possible to contribute their time, efforts, and abilities to the council's welfare and progress by getting involved with activities that the members and their families find interesting and meaningful.  Second, a well-organized program should attract new members to the Order and encourage them, in turn, to make similar contributions.

Most activities can be organized under one of two categories: Membership or Service Program.

Membership
Within the Membership category there are three groups or committees:

  1. Recruitment: Meets with membership prospects and their families to discuss the benefits and rewards for being a member of the Knights of Columbus
  2. Retention: Networks with members who have not been active or who are in danger of losing their membership status.
  3. Insurance: Offering insurance protection for members and their families is one of the main reasons the Knights of Columbus came into existence!  The insurance program of the Knights of Columbus has consistantly been rated as one of the top companies in the United States.
Serivce Program
Within the Service Program categories, one will find five major component:
  1. Church: The lay apostolate must respond to the constant call for active involvement in the work of the Church.  Council 1028 offers a variety of ways to be active in parish life through its Church service program.
  2. Community: Our community offers limitless opportunities for action that can be seen, felt and judged for its true worth.  Whatever the community's needs are, Council 1028 will respond!
  3. Council: Many of the activities of the Council sound demanding, and certainly many are, but that does not mean that others can't be just for fun.  The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization and Council activities help build a fraternal bound among its members.
  4. Family: Council 1028 works to support families by conducting programs and activities that aid in rebuilding family spirit from within, making it strong and full of life.
  5. Youth: As Knights of Columbus, we are committed to provide youth with the means and the opportunities to become personally committed and involved in the lives of their families, communities, and Church.
